A hearty congratulations to 2008/2009 season playwright and Writer/Director Lab alumnus Dan LeFranc for winning the prestigious New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award.

To celebrate, FEED has produced a slide show interview in which Dan speaks about his plays, his singular use of illustration and text, as well as the rewriting process. Learn about what stimulates this hyper imaginative writer and take a look at some of the influences that have gone into his plays, including the play the NY Times sited in their award, Sixty Miles to Silverlake. In praise of… The Writer/Director Lab

As we launch the 2010 Writer/Director Lab, here’s a video featuring past and current Chairs of the Lab. Take a short peek at what goes into choosing the Lab members and what the process is all about. Watch our trio of Lab gurus speak about some particularly memorable works to have come out of the program. This video features Maria Goyanes (Director of Special Projects at The Public Theater) who chaired the Lab from 2006 to 2008, as well as the current Co-Chairs: the dramaturg Danny Manley and the playwright Kate E. Ryan.

We invite you to watch a promo video for our US premiere production in May, “The Truth: A Tragedy” by performer-musician Cynthia Hopkins.

This, her newest piece, looks at a multitude of subjects ranging from German “wonder cabinets”, the 17th century phenomenon of collecting incredibly personal objects and displaying them; to Parkinson’s disease and what makes a contemporary tragedy. (read more)
